The Fruit Lady of Shida
I'm am not the first to tell this tale. The tale of a cheerful fruit vendor in Taipei's Shida neighborhood.
Her story was told through a book I read. A friend of mind wrote this book and had encountered her during his daily life in Taiwan. Everyday, she sells her fruit, some of the best in Taipei, to the many college students, office workers, taxi drivers, and various other characters that comprise this city's overabundant populus. To the unkown passerby, this is just another mundane detail of Taiwan life. Another fruit vendor, take it for granted.

Each passing day,
My mind is flooded with our memories,
That comforting smile on your face,
The warmth felt with every embrace,
The reflection of the world in your pale blue eyes,
The taste of each kiss; merely the first's reprise,
Your talent, the images that made me admire,
Vibrance, imagination, the power to inspire,
The thoughts, upon my rooftop, we shared,
Deep or trivial, you always cared,
Ramen, Pocky, Green tea, and BLTs,
Anime, manga, "Weird" Al, and AMVs,
When we are together, this and more makes us smile,
When it is time to part, we stall the whole while,
Because eternity would never give me enough

It's more than likely no one will read this. I haven't necessarily been very active on here in awhile. Anyway, I was rejected from UMASS Amherst too, back in 2008. However, UMASS Amherst just recently accepted me, and into their honors college too! What a difference two years makes.
I pretty much did what I said I would do. I entered into a transfer program at NECC, studied my ass off, got great grades, and now I'm graduating with an Associates in International Relations. Even better, I was selected to be the student speaker at my commencement. I'm really excited! ^^
At UMASS, I will major in Chinese Language and Literature with a
Yay, Middlebury and Bates rejected the sh** out of me. It's funny, because they use the nicest language when what they reall mean "We just don't think your a good as these other kickass students with better GPAs and more money, so we don't want you."
It's like they pat you on the back as they're urinating down their leg.
This is partially my fault, I didn't really strive for the grades I was capable of getting during high school. Well..... I have on college left, UMASS Amherst. Everyone is pretty certain I'll get in there. If I don't, f*** it. I'll take some NECC courses, get a job (preferably at Chin Chin), and work hard at both so I can a
If You are reading this and it's after 11:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 8th, then I'm already on a plain bound for Nagoya, Japan. I'm so pumped dude. I can't wait to come back with a bunch of pictures for those 3 people that visit my profile.
Taiwan is Taiwan. I love it. My Chinese is getting better and I'm beginning to feel it. I had an effortless conversation on Mandarin today and those are just nice. I wish I had more opportunities to visit Candy's coffee. The coffee there is great and reasonably priced, the people are friendly, the store is small, cozy, and well decorated, the owner treats me very well, and it's not Starbucks. L
